Inanna's Revenge is a new novel by Whitley Hodges. Inanna, the Goddess of Love and War, returns to Earth in human form. She takes a North Carolina lawyer, Kenan O'Grady, as her consort. She then creates a trial before the Grand Assembly of the Anunnaki where she asks that man be judged for his acts and omissions. The stakes are high. The Gods ask the human lawyers to prosecute and defend mankind.
The great French philospher, Voltaire, is brought from the Underworld to participate as a witness and later as a defender of mankind during the trial. He takes no prisoners as he attacks humans and gods alike with his genius.
Women readers will appreciate his idea that the great houses of worship are simply "gigantic male uteruses."
If you are a religious fundamentalist of any faith, you will be irritated if not angered by this book. It deals with little known facts about the early history of Judeo-Christian and related faiths of the Middle East. For example, you will learn that Moses was actually the Pharoah Akhenaten who was driven from Egypt in a manner not accurately told in Exodus. If you are an enlightened and spiritual woman, a pagan or a woman who believes there is too much testosterone in the world's houses of worship, you will laugh and chortle at the situations between the Gods and humans during the trial.
Some of you will be very upset at the manner in which you have been manipulated by religious scholars and priests over the centuries.
If you are into ancient religions and history, you will enjoy the manner in which the Gods address modern problems and their solutions as to mankind's problems. The final verdict is unique and worth reading.
If you are of Scot-Irish lineage (as is the author Whitley Hodges), you will learn the ancient history of the Scot tribes. You will discover that the Scots go back to Moses-Akhenaten and the Egyptian Princess Scota. She married Prince Niul of the Scythian tribes of the Black Sea and their progeny migrated to Ireland and Scotland. Their history and the manner in which Moses and his Levites created the bases of the modern Judeo-Christian sects are very interesting.
The book is chocked full of ancient religion, history and information about the deities who are the foundation of modern western religion.
